The Purpose of this SOP is DM plant effluent treatment method and sequence standardization. 

2.0 Scope

3.0 Responsibility

3.1 Maintenance is responsible for providing the required facility & Utility.

3.2 Maint. DM plant Operator is responsible for proper treatment.

4.0 DM Water Plant Effluent Procedure

4.1 Charge the Base (Caustic) wash water first in treatment tank till 50% of Volume & Check the pH by online pH meter & note in log-book.

4.0 Start the agitator & begin charging of Acid (HCL) wash under the stirring till pH 7.7 - 8.2Continue agitation for another 15-20 minutes.

4.3 Stop agitation and leave the content for a minimum of 3-4 hrs. to allow proper salt settling.

4.4 At the end of the settling period, remove clear water by opening the side valve slowly so as not to disturb settled salt.

4.5 This clarified (treated) water will pass on to ETP treated effluent storage tank through a dedicated pipeline for further disposal to CETP.
