SOP For Operation and Calibration of the UV Light Cabinet

This document details the procedure for the Operation and Calibration of the UV light Cabinet. OR UV cabinet Calibration as per USP. uv sterilizer disinfection cabinet.

It is the policy of Zyx Pharmaceuticals Limited that the written procedure shall be followed for the Operation and Calibration of the UV Light Cabinet to ensure smooth operation and its use to obtain consistent and reproducible results and to minimize downtime, in compliance with regulatory requirements.

This procedure is to be applied at the time of the Operation and Calibration of the UV Light Cabinet.

RESPONSIBILITY

Persons along with their responsibilities are given below:

 Executive - Corporate Quality Assurance:- To prepare the SOP.

Trainee Analyst/ Jr. Analyst/ Analyst/ Sr. Analyst:- To follow the SOP accordingly

Manager - Quality Control:- To ensure implementation of SOP.

Manager – Quality Assurance:- To ensure implementation of SOP.

Manager  - Corporate Quality Assurance:- To ensure implementation of SOP.

Vice President  - Technical:- To ensure implementation of SOP.

Operation and Calibration of the UV Light Cabinet

UV cabinet working principle

Clean the equipment with a clean and dry cloth. If required, clean with a wet cloth followed by a dry cloth.

SOP For Operation and Calibration of the UV light Cabinet.

Switch ON the UV-light Cabinet by using an ON/OFF switch.

Switch ON the adaptor by using an ON/OFF switch.

Keep the plate in the UV Light Cabinet.

Close the sliding door of the UV Light Chamber.

Set the lamp to Short wavelength (254 nm) / Long wavelength (366 nm).

See the plate through the quartz glass.

Switch OFF the lamp, change the lamp, and then again switch ON.

Record the entries of daily samples as per ZYX/CQA/SOP-045/FR-01 (Appendix I) ‘Log Book of UV Light Cabinet’.

CALIBRATION PROCEDURE (Quarterly)

Apply to plate, 5µL of 0.04%w/v sodium salicylate in ethanol (95%) and examine the spot at a Short wavelength (254 nm).

Apply to plate, 5µLof 0.2% w/v sodium salicylate in ethanol (95%) and examine the spot at a Long wavelength (366nm).

The spot should be visible properly and the diameter of the spot should be approximately 5 mm.

If calibration is satisfactory affix the calibration status on the instrument.

If calibration results are unsatisfactory inform to head of the department and affix the label out of order.

Record all the observations for calibration as per ZYX/CQA/SOP-045/FR-02 (Appendix II) ‘Calibration Datasheet’.

CLEANING OF UV-LIGHT CABINET 

Clean the instrument with a dry lint-free cloth before and after use.
