Preparation of 0.1 M Ammonium Thiocyanate
Weigh accurately 7.612gm of ammonium thiocyanate in a 1000 ml volumetric flask add sufficient water to dissolve properly and dilute to 1000 ml with water. Standardize the solution in the following manner.
Standardization of  0.1 M Ammonium Thiocyanate (TRIPLICATE)
Pipette 30 ml of 0.1 M silver nitrate standard solution in a glass stoppered flask and dilute with water to 50 ml, add 2 ml of nitric acid and 2 ml of ferric ammonium sulphate solution and titrate with 0.1M ammonium thiocyanate solution to the first appearance of a red-brown colour.
Calculation
 Molarity =  -------------------------------------------------------------
          Volume consumed (ml) of 0.1 M ammonium thiocyanate
ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
1) The accuracy of the solution should be within ± 10% of the theoretical concentration.
2) RSD* of the triplicate results of standardization / re-standardization should not be more than 0.2 %
