To Prepare a Standard 0.1 N Oxalic Acid Solution

This will give you a standard 0.1 N oxalic acid solution, where 1 N solution contains 1 equivalent weight of solute per litre of solution. Since the equivalent weight of oxalic acid dihydrate is 63.03 g/mol, the amount you weighed (0.6303 g) will give you a 0.1 N solution in 100 mL.

To Prepare a Standard 0.1 N Oxalic Acid Solution

Procedure

Accurately weigh 0.6303 g of oxalic acid dihydrate (H₂C₂O₄·2H₂O) using an analytical balance.

Carefully transfer the weighed oxalic acid into a clean 100 mL volumetric flask.

Add a small amount of distilled water (about 50-75 mL) to the flask. Swirl or shake gently to dissolve the oxalic acid completely.

Once dissolved, add distilled water to the flask until the solution reaches the calibration mark (100 mL).

Stopping the flask and shaking it thoroughly to ensure the solution is homogeneous.

Keep the prepared 0.1 N oxalic acid solution in the stoppered volumetric flask.
